Hightlight of Exploring the north India through railways is a novel experience of lifetime. A storehouse of culture, traditions and regality, the North India is a wishful retreat coupled with a rail journey. Beginning from the city of contrasts – Delhi, the trail traverses to royal Rajasthan through the expansive golden sand land – Jaisalmer. Furthermore, the trip moves to the sites where time left its indelible traces. The ruined legacy of Osian, the city painted in cool blue – Jodhpur, the utopia of Udaipur where dreams intermingle with reality along with the capital city of forts, Jaipur in Rajasthan.

Day 01 : Arrive Delhi
Meet & Assist by our representative at the Airport and transfer to the hotel. Being India's capital Delhi is major gateway to the country, contemporary Delhi is a bustling metropolis which successfully combines in its fold the ancient and the modern. Its strategic location was one of the prime reasons why successive dynasties chose it as their seat of power. The division between new and old delhi is the distinction between the capitals of the British and the Mughals respectively.

Day 2: Delhi To Jaisalmer By Train
Transfer to the railway station to catch the train to Jaisalmer by Train # 4059 Delhi Jaisalmer Express dep. 17:40 hrs. Overnight on board.

Day 3 : Jaisalmer
Arrival Jaisalmer. Check In at Hotel. After lunch proceed to Sams to experience Sand Dues with Camel Safari. Dinner at Hotel with Rajasthani folk dance. Overnight stay at hotel / camp in Jaisalmer.

Day 4: Jaisalmer
Morning city visit of Jaisalmer Fort (the only living fort) and the famous Havelis. In the evening either visit Kuri Sand Dunes or enjoy the hotels activity. Overnight stay at Hotel in Jaisalmer.

Day 5 : Jaiselmer Night In Desert

Day 6: Jaisalmer to Jodhpur
After breakfast sight seeing tour of Jaisalmer including the 12-15th century Jain temples, Folk Museum, Gadi -sar Tank & the colorfully painted homes known as Havelies. Later transfer to the railway station to catch over night a.c. train to Jodhpur.

Day 7 :Jodhpur
Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. After Breakfast After breakfast Full day sightseeing tour of Jodhpur which includes visit to the Mehrangarh Fort, Mahamandir Temple, Jaswant Tada, Clock Tower and Mandore Garden. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 8 : Jodhpur to Udaipur via Ranakpur

Day 9 : Udaipur
After breakfast drive to Udaipur i.e. 259 kms or 06 hrs drive. Enroute visit centuries old Jain temples at Ranakpur temples. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 10: Udaipur
(After breakfast sight seeing tour of Udaipur visit to the Moti Mahal, Bandal Mahal, Manak Mahal, Dilkush temple, Fateh Sagar, Udai Sagar etc.). Later transfer to the railway station to catch the train to Jaipur by Train # 2966 Udaipur Jaipur Super Exp. Dep. 22:20 hrs. Overnight on board.

Day 11: Jaipur
Arrive Jaipur at 06:00 hrs in the morning upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Afternoon city tour of Jaipur visiting the Hawa Mahal - the palace of winds, the Observatory or the Jantar Mantar. Evening is free for leisure or you can explore the local Markets by your own. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 12: Jaipur
fter breakfast sightseeing tour of Jaipur includes Amber Fort - Amber Fort was the ancient capital of the State. Elephant ride / Jeep Safari is provided to ascend hill on top of which the fort is situated. Afternoon free for leisure or you can explore the city by own. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 13: Jaipur to vis Fatehpur Sikri Agra
After breakfast visit Amber Fort on elephant back / Jeep. Amber Fort was the ancient capital of the State. Visit the Sheesh Mahal or the Hall of Victory glittering with mirrors. Afternoon drive to Agra i.e. 232 kms or 5 hrs drive. Enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri, the old Mughal capital still preserved in good condition. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 14: Agra
After breakfast visit Taj Mahal, one of the 7 wonders of world, Agra Fort and Itmad-ud-Daula. Evening is free for leisure or you can explore the local market by your own. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 15: Agra To Orcha
After breakfast, drive towards Orccha. After you check into the hotel, visit the main attraction of the city, the fort, located on an island in the Betwa River. Then the temple Raja Ram Chaturbhuj Laxminarayan and a unique harmony. Orccha has 14 chhattri or memorial in honor of its successive governors. Overnighting stay at hotel.

Day 16: Orcha
Explore Orchha; enjoy the unique ambiance in this little town of Madhya Pradesh. Stop off in Khajuraho. Overnight in hotel.

Day 17: Orcha to Khajuraho Night Train to Varanasi
Visit the morning of Chaunsat Yogini Temple, the oldest of this large set (900 AD) and dedicated to the goddess Kali. Then you head to the Kanderiya Mahadeo Temple, one of the finest examples of art Chandela, whose approach impresses flanked by lions on the north by the elephants flank the southern part. You will end finally discovered the temple dedicated to Shiva, the lingam Matangeshwara which measures 8 feet high. Then transfert to Khajuraho station to take your train until Varanasi, one of the holiest towns in the Hindu religion. Night in AC couchettes.

Day 18: Varanasi
aranasi was formerly known as Kashi – the city that illuminates. The religious capital of Hinduism, Varanasi is the oldest living city of India & one of the worlds' most ancient. The present name is derived from the fact that the city is at the confluence of the rivers Varuna & Asi. After breakfast, take excursion to Sarnath - the buried Buddhist city where Buddha preached his first sermon. After attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gaya the Buddha went to Sarnath, and it was here that he preached his first discourse in the deer park to set in motion the 'Wheel of the Dharma'. It is one of the most holy sites as in this place the stream of the Buddha's teaching first flowed. Sarnath was a renowned school of learning from 16th century BC to 12th century AD. Visit the ruins, the stupa, the Buddhist temple & the museum (closed on Friday). At the museum is the Ashok Pillar with its four guardian lions, used as independent Indias' national emblem.Evening at leisure & overnight stay.

Day 19: Varanasi
In early morning, you will leave for boat ride on the Ganges to see the bathing Ghats (river bank) & cremation site. Sunrise on the riverfront, as seen from a boat, can be a spiritually uplifting sight. Return to hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, city tour of Varanasi - Visit the Bharat Mata temple with a big relief map of India in Marble, Durga temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir, Benaras Hindu University which has an art gallery & the mosque of Moghul Emperor Aurangzeb. In afternoon, take excursion to Ramnagar. Return by boat in the evening, enroute witness the religious ceremonies along the banks of river Ganges. Overnight stay will be at hotel.

Day 20: Varanasi to Delhi Evening Train
Today morning take breakfast in the hotel, you will be free for individual activities. Evening, transfer to the over night train station to board for scheduled depart to Delhi

Day 1: Arrive Delhi

Welcome to India! We arrive in Delhi and will be met and picked up at the Delhi airport by our guide and driver. We’ll check into our hotel and rest after our long journey.

Day 2: AGRA Delhi - Agra

In the morning we visit old Delhi with a two hour guided tour on a rickshaw ride. Then we leave Delhi and head towards Agra home of the Taj Mahal. In the late afternoon we will explore a wondrous step well. We will then check into our hotel and relax. Included: Breakfast.

Day 3: Agra - Jaipur

No journey to India is complete without seeing the Taj Mahal. We will rise early to arrive at sunrise to see this masterpiece of Indian architecture. We will have a local guide give us a tour of the Taj Mahal. Then we will return to our hotel for a delicious breakfast and then head out to our next stay, Jaipur. On the way we will stop at an amazing picturesque monkey temple set in a ravine with wonderful unrestored painted buildings and temples.

Jaipur, known as the Pink City due the historic district where all the buildings are painted pink. Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan. The grand Amber Fort is set on a hill overlooking Maota Lake and is awe inspiring in its scale with its wall the circles the whole city around the hillsides. Inside the fort is the Sheesh Majal whose walls are covered with little mirrors. We will also visit the city palace in town inside the Pink City displaying royal clothing and jewels, weapons and arts. The palace is absolutely breathtaking and one of the most beautiful palaces in India. We will have a special local guide to take us to the sites of Jaipur.Included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 4: Jaipur - Bundi

In the morning we will drive on to Bundi. Bundi is a small magical town with 4 gateways that encircle the old city. Here we will explore the spectacular 16th century Bundi Palace and Fort with its lovely unrestored paintings on the walls throughout. We will also visit the ancient steps walls of the town. Afterwards we will wander the narrow streets of this picturesque town and interact with locals. Bundi will be one of the unexpected joys and unforgettable surprises of your trip. Included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 5: Bundi - Udaipur

We will the drive on to the lovely fairytale city of Udaipur built around the picturesque Lake Pichola. After we check into our hotel and relax we will wander the streets of this magical city. Udaipur’s narrow alleys are filled with bazaars selling goods. Those who are interested could have an Ayurvedic massage or take a cooking class. Included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 6: Udaipur

In the morning we will visit the grand palace situated in the middle old city with our local guide. From there we will enjoy a boat ride out on the lake to an old palace. The guide will also take us to an amazing huge textile shop and museum hidden within the city. In the afternoon we will go on a special artisans tour. We will visit a village of people who make puppets, a family of potters who have been throwing pots for generations and a miniature painting artist. Included: Breakfast.

Day 7: Udaipur - Jodphur

Today we will drive to Jodhpur. If Jaipur is the pink city Jodhpur is the blue city where within the walled city many buildings are painted blue. Here we will visit the 15th century fort, a former palace. The fort is set on a rocky outcrop overlooking the city below.

Before checking into our hotel we will visit the old city and stop in at a fabulous spice and tea shop and afterwards we will walk to the nearby large market center. Included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 8: Jodhpur

In the morning we will drive out to visit some Bushnoi villages outside of Jodhpur with a local guide. We will visit a town of weavers and some families who do traditional block printing. We will also stop in two great wholesale centers for Indian textiles and have an opportunity to shop. In the late afternoon we will wander the narrow streets of the blue city. Included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 9: Jodphur - Jaisalmer

Today we will head out to Jaisalmer one of India’s loveliest towns which is at the center of the Great Indian Desert. After we check into our rooms in a lovely Haveli we will go out and explore the streets and many markets of the town. Included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 10: Jaisalmer

We will visit the amazing large city fort and the incredible Jain temple all within its walls. We will have a local guide take us through the fort and tour the city. We will visit a world famous jeweler who sells to Maharajas and Mick Jaggar as well as a high quality textile dealer. After our city tour and lunch we will visit a cultural center and music school for children of the Merasi clan. This will be a highlight of the tour and some of the best music you will hear on your trip. Included: Breakfast.

Day 11: Jaisalmer

For our last day in Jaisalmer we will travel out to the desert to visit the Thar people and stay overnight in a lovely comfortable tent camp (each tent is private and has a modern toilet and electricity). For those who would like they can go on a sunset camel ride (others can ride in camel pulled carts) or they can ride out with me to visit a nearby Thar village to see how the people live and their wonderfully painted adobe homes. For dinner we will hear traditional music played by the locals with a great dance performance and sit by a campfire and enjoy a great meal. This is a magical experience and an opportunity to enjoy the complete silence and beauty of the desert. Included: Breakfast & Dinner..

Day 12: Jaisalmer - Bikaner

We then leave Jaisalmer and drive on to Bikaner. With a local guide we will tour its impressive fort and see some of its magical palace rooms. We will then hop on to tuktuk or small motorized rickshaws and tour the medieval old city with its lovely red sandstone havelis and Jain temples. Our hotel that night is a grand old hotel with huge magnificent gardens that you can stroll and enjoy. Included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 13: Bikaner - Mandawa

We then drive on in the morning to the picturesque town of Mandawa. This region was home to the merchant class in the 1800’s who prided themselves on beautifully painted grand mansions or havelis. We will wander the town and visit both restored and unrestored havelis and see their magnificent painting that is unique to this region and town. That night we will stay in a lovely painted haveli with gorgeously decorated rooms. The haveli restaurant also has amazing food. Included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 14: Mandawa - Delhi

On our last day in India we will either spend more time in the countryside or arrive to Delhi in time to do something there and have a nice farewell dinner together before we depart back home for the U.S. Included: Breakfast & Lunch.
